Open the PDF in No Bloat PDF, click the signature tool, draw or type your signature, place it, save. About a minute, completely free, and the document never leaves your machine. Here is the walkthrough, plus what "digital signature" really means.
That last point is the whole reason this guide exists. No Bloat PDF makes zero network calls, so it literally cannot upload your contract. The signature happens on your machine because everything happens on your machine.
Think about what you are signing. Contracts, leases, offer letters, and medical forms carry names, addresses, salaries, and account details. The "free" signing sites ask you to upload exactly those documents to servers you know nothing about, to save one minute of work. Some are honest. Some monetize the way free PDF tools usually monetize. You cannot tell which is which from the landing page, so the safe default is simple: documents with your life in them stay local.
Two different things share the word "signature," and most pages hide that:
| Signature image (this guide) | Cryptographic digital signature | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Your visual mark placed on the page | A certificate-based mathematical proof |
| What it proves | Intent to sign | Who signed, and that the file was not altered after |
| Good for | Everyday agreements, forms, approvals | Regulated filings, high-stakes contracts, compliance workflows |
| Cost | Free in No Bloat PDF | Certificate authorities or e-sign services, usually paid |
In the US, the E-SIGN Act and UETA give electronic signatures legal effect for most everyday agreements, and a placed signature with intent to sign generally qualifies. But when a counterparty requires a certified digital signature or a full audit trail (some legal, financial, and government workflows do), use a dedicated e-sign service for that document, then come back to the fast lane. Pretending one tool covers both would be exactly the kind of dishonesty this site was built to avoid.
